In one of the novel ideas in India, the citizens and institutions of a city came forward to develop a destroyed village. More than 50 boats were gifted to the fishermen last year itself so that they could begin their life all over again.

The name of the Village has now been changed to "Mudliyarkuppam Mysore Colony".

Sri Swamiji spoke on the occasion and mentioned that the novel experiment of the citizens of Mysore to pool up resources and assist a calamity ravaged area proved successful and that was the reason for Datta Peetham to be part of it. Sri Swamiji continued saying that the only force humans had to face calamity was compassion to fellow beings.
