How is it different for someone to listen to Sri Swamji's rendering of a certain raga as opposed to listening to some classical singer rendering the same piece? Is it the same, do we get the same healing? Print
Although sounds inevitably heal, one must know how to operate, how to heal, which notes, which 'ragas' to choose and at what time to play them. However, ordinary people do not have this type of knowledge. This type of knowledge is known as 'Raga Ragini Vidya' or 'Siddhi Vidya'. Moreover, some 'ragas', some tunes will hurt our heart and our mental state, as these raagas correspond to our nerves. Miracles are one part of 'siddhi’, but there are eight kinds of 'siddhis'. One who has achieved the eight 'siddhis' is called a 'siddha purusa'. These 'siddhis' are required in order to heal through music and the music gets tuned to our nervous system. Since Swamiji is a ‘siddha purusha,’ He can heal using various ragas while other classical singers and musicians who have not achieved the eight siddhis cannot heal in a manner similar to Sri Swamiji’s healing process.
