His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji – the torch bearer in the renaissance of healing music , a pioneer in spreading global peace and harmony through His Music for Meditation and Healing that transcends the barriers of cast, creed, color, religion, language or even nations. With His wide ranging musical performances all over the globe from small hamlets to the most reputed auditoriums across the world He has brought a global realization to the therapeutic efficacy of Music through His personal charisma magnetism and energetic musical vibration. He has been successful in using music to manipulate a person’s mood to relaxation, to carry them to states of happiness at times of frustration and sorrow, as a connection to ancient culture and as a catalyst to physical health, emotional expression, spiritual growth and meditation.

The Sanskrit word for Sound Energy is NADA. According to the Vedic literature all creation originated from the NADA. While AHATA NADA relates to audible sounds, the ANAHATA nada relates to SUBTLE AND COSMIC SOUND ENERGY. It is this Energy Principle of Music that is the focus during these healing concerts. HEALING WITH NADA is thus a purposeful and highly skilled use of Music and Musical Elements (sound, rhythm, melody and harmony) to promote, maintain or restore physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. All civilizations across the world have attached great importance to the healing aspect of Music. Recent studies on Music therapy indicate that music can influence the endogenous cannabinoids or opioids - a group of neuro-hormones found to effect pain perception, neuro transmission and mood states. This has brought great application to Music in Clinical Situation. -As an audio analgesic and sedative in chronic pain syndromes. As a complimentary modality in labor wards, medical wards, surgical wards, intensive care units, neonatal and pediatric care, operation theatres, wait rooms, physiotherapy sessions, counseling sessions, rehabilitation clinics-As a promoter of Body-Mind Health in various psycho-somatic problems including Anxiety, Depression, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac ailments, Cancer etc. Research has shown that listening to appropriate music lowers BP, stabilizes heart rate, relieves depression, reduces pretreatment anxiety, enhances concentration and creativity, lessens need for sedatives and pain killers during and after surgery, reduces nausea related to chemotherapy.

An accomplished YOGI and AVADHOOTA His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji displayed unusual abilities and wisdom right from His childhood. He was initiated into the secrets of Raja Yoga and Sri Vidya (the spiritual sciences related to meditation and healing) – by His mother and mentor Smt. Jayalakshmi Mata. She wound render great spiritual truths as lullabies to the infant. This had an impeccable mark in the mind of the Sri Swamiji. He was later trained by His Aunt Venkamma into HATA YOGA (the science of health through postures). Born in the traditional family of Herbalists Sri Swamiji mastered the use of various herbs. The energy and intrinsic vibrations related to crystal often attracted His attention. Being a keen observer of nature, it didn’t take long for Swamiji to understand the mystery of the sounds of nature. A prolific composer and a skilful musician were gradually blossoming up in Him. He wound spend hours listening to these sounds observing and analyzing their effects on the plants, animals, human body and mind.

Sri Swamiji then began experimenting with sampled sounds on His synthesizer that He fondly addresses as DATTAVEENA. Sri Swamiji says “The human spine is like the VEENA and the seven notes of music represent the seven chakras – metaphysical centers along the spine. The combination of various notes in a scale brings about subtle change in the energy levels of these chakras and the 72000 metaphysical energy channels in the body. In addition the aesthetic appeal of the raga or scale also has a predictable effect on the mind. This is called the RASA BHAVA or emotion. This makes MUSIC HEALING an art as well as a science. Proficiency of the musician, knowledge of music, astrology, yoga, psychology and concentration on the part of the Healer and the Listener are the clues to achieve good results.” Following nearly three decades of intense research Sri Swamiji was able to establish correlation between the ragas and their effects on the human body and mind. He has demonstrated the capabilities of the healing effects of His music to transoceanic audience. Many renowned musicians have accompanied Him during such healing sessions. He has more than 5000 compositions in several languages and 200 albums.

Many Hospitals in India and Medical Centers are regularly playing His Music. Many Schools and Institutions have adopted His concepts of Music Healing. Many Nations regularly broadcast His music on the radio. Many Public libraries, Correction Centers and University Libraries have His Musical products. Millions of people including the high stress professionals like Doctors and Hospital Staff, Lawyers, Policemen, Business magnets, Politicians etc. listen to His music everyday as a bedtime pill. Sri Swamiji’s music has helped in rehabilitation of destitute women, training communication impaired children, training orphans, slum dwellers and street children, in reforming jail inmates and imprisoned convicts, juvenile delinquents, substance abuse victims, and in managing bereavement. Swamiji’s music helped these people in better social adjustment, improved self esteem and skills of creativity. Many people who underwent intensive care treatment for various medical and surgical conditions were greatly relieved of their anxiety when they listened to Swamiji’s music. Their recovery was also speeded up by his healing music. Sri Swamiji however emphasizes that Music Healing is an adjuvant and supportive method and not a substitute for medical care.

Sri Swamiji says “The INNER LIGHT is shining constantly. It reveals itself through the mirror called MIND. Defects of the mind blur the light within, but actually, that light remains unaffected by the modification of the mind. One should ignore limitations of the mind and concentrate on the inner light. This inner light is GOD. To seek God should be aim in ones life. There is an intimate relationship between music and God. But this relationship is established only when nada is approached with reverence and devotion. NADOPASANA leads to MOKSHA. Worship through Music leads to liberation.”
